(skala: 1:48) The "Spirit of St Louis" is without doubt the most famous aircraft of all time, designed and built with one aim only: the NON-STOP transatlantic crossing from New York to Paris. After numerous unsuccessful attempts by other pilots, on 20th May 1927, Charles Lindberg took off from New York for this world-shattering event. He covered a distance of over 3,600 miles (5972 km) in 33.5 hours and on 21st May 1927 he landed at Paris, Le Bourget, where he was met with great acclaim.
